We had the opportunity to visit the Kokanee Chalets in the Nelson and Kootenay Lake Region and had a fantastic stay. This 20-acre property has 16 cabins, 9 guest rooms, 53 RV sites, 17 tent sites, and is open year-round.
Kokanee Chalets is in Crawford Bay on the East Shore and is about a 5-minute drive from the Kootenay Bay Ferry.
This property is bike friendly, has eco toilets, recycling on-site, great drinking water so you don't have to bring bottled, bbq's and a fire pit, a seasonal hot tub, an onsite bakery (seasonal hours), a view of the lake, and a playground for the kiddos.
We stayed in cabin 16 which has a view of the wetland and the lake. It was uber cozy with 3 bedrooms and a kitchenette. It's also pet friendly so your furry friend can visit with you.
Our stay was delightful and we hope to visit again in the fall when the colours are vibrant.
We will say that the cabin is almost toddler-friendly however, you will want to be careful with the ladder leading to the 2 upstairs bedrooms and both front and back doors into the cabin are self-locking so don't leave without bringing the key. We thankfully only made this mistake once.
This trail is right next to the cabins and leads right to the beach. You can also drive down this main road.
